How Build a PC checks your parts
Pick parts slot by slot (processor, motherboard, memory, graphics card, storage, power supply, case, cooler) and every choice is checked against the rest of the build as you go, with today's prices and a running total. Share links rebuild the same parts.
How it decides
- CPU socket against the motherboard, memory type against the board, board size and power supply size against the case.
- Graphics card length and thickness, cooler height and radiator size against the case maker's limits.
- Power: processor + graphics card under a gaming load + about 80 W for the rest, times 1.3, or the card maker's advice if that's higher, rounded up to 50 W.
- Each result is ✓ fits, ! works but needs a step, ✕ won't work, ⚑ works but not recommended, or ⚠ specs not checked yet.
Example results
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX (ATX) → CPU fits the motherboard: The CPU is AM5 and the board is LGA1700. Pick a board with the AM5 socket.
- MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi (ATX) + Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3200 → RAM type matches: DDR4 RAM won't go in a DDR5 board. Pick a DDR5 kit.
- NVIDIA RTX 5090 32GB + Lian Li A4-H2O (mini) → Graphics card fits the case: 340 mm card, case takes up to 322 mm. Pick a shorter card or a bigger case. Partner cards vary, so check your exact model.
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + NVIDIA RTX 5090 32GB + Montech Century II 750W Gold (ATX 3.1) → Power supply wattage: ~775 W while gaming on a 750 W PSU. Recommended: 1050 W+ (NVIDIA recommends 1000 W for this card). Pick a 1050 W+ power supply.
